Variant Logistics continues an industrial freight operation originally established in 1998. For decades, the focus was clear: domestic intermodal movements connecting Chicago to key West Coast markets including Los Angeles, Oakland, and Seattle.
That foundation of structured lane execution and intermodal coordination continues today – expanded to include transloading, container drayage, flatbed and van delivery, and industrial freight support across additional U.S. markets.

Documented Load Inspections
Inbound and outbound freight is inspected and photographed at transload facilities to document condition and load integrity.
Class 1 Rail Coordination
We coordinate domestic intermodal shipments across major Class 1 rail networks, aligning drayage, transloading, and final delivery.
Rail-Approved Securement Systems (Domestic Intermodal)
For domestic intermodal movements, we utilize rail-approved sleds designed for long products and restricted coils, allowing 360-degree access around the freight for proper blocking and bracing prior to rail transit.
Moisture Protection & Cargo Care
Moisture-bearing paper is applied to protect metal freight from condensation during transit. Desiccant bags are available upon request when additional humidity control is required.
